In one line
A cozy daily logic puzzle: put one critter in every row, column and color, with no two touching. No ads, no lives, and never any guessing.
About Snug
Snug is a calm logic puzzle for a few quiet minutes a day. The rules fit in one line: place one critter in every row, every column and every colored patch, and no two critters may touch, not even at the corners. There's a new daily puzzle every day, the same for everyone, and a path of 300 levels through twelve painted places, from the meadow to the Moon Garden.
Snug is built to be fair. Every puzzle has exactly one answer that you can reach by logic alone, so you never have to guess. There are no ads, no lives and no energy, and nothing ever stops you from playing. When you're stuck, a hint doesn't just show where to go: it explains why that move works, so you get better with every puzzle.
Features
- A new daily puzzle every day, the same for everyone, with a streak, streak freezes and Home and Lock Screen widgets
- 300 levels from 4×4 to 10×10, with variants that twist the rules: Pairs (two critters in every row, column and color) and Neighbors (numbered stumps count the critters touching them)
- Hints that teach the next logical step and the reason for it
- 56 critters to befriend (hedgehogs, owls, frogs, foxes and more), and Lily the frog, who teaches the rules on a real board in about a minute
- An original lullaby, gentle haptics, dark mode and color-blind friendly patterns
- Game Center leaderboards and 20 achievements, iCloud sync, and it plays offline
How it's made
Every puzzle is proven fair. Snug's puzzles come from its own generator. Each one goes through two checks before it ships: an exact solver proves it has exactly one answer, and a second solver, which only knows the deductions a person would make, has to finish it from start to end. The deductions it needs set the difficulty, and the same solver writes the hints, so a hint is always a step a person could have found.
Drawn and composed in code. The critters, the painted map and the lullaby are all drawn or synthesized in code. There are no stock assets, and no image, video or music generators were used. Snug was written with the help of Claude, an AI coding assistant.
Fair by design. There's no ad SDK. The free game (the daily, the first 100 levels, the streak and the widgets) stays free for good, and the streak never depends on paying. Hints come from a jar that refills over time, and hints that point out a mistake are always free.
